Bio

Haris Piplas, born in Sarajevo, is a landscape architect and urban design researcher. He has studied and worked in Matica of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Berlin, Milan, and Zurich. He has been a part of U-TT since 2011, coordinating and co-teaching the Urban Design I/II: Urban Stories lecture course and developing the Global City Toolbox. His doctoral dissertation, funded through SNF, focuses on urban transformations of Central-Eastern European cities with particular attention to ex-Yugoslavian urban design. Within the new ISTP Urbanization Research Incubator at ETH Zurich, he works on developing innovative research and teaching models in collaboration with academic, industry, and policy partners. Outside of ETH Zurich, Haris is active in the Urban Land Institute, Aga Khan Foundation, ISOCARP, Matica B&H, and European Forum Alpbach.
